Obama is not a God. I'm sorry to break it to the millions of people who seem to think so, but there has yet to be any man to reach the status of almighty know-all; although some have obviously tried and continue trying their hand at the waste of time known as politics. When Obama was elected, people were either giddy with excitement or hatred; all for the wrong reasons. They weren't looking at his ability to control our government or improve the livelihood of Americans. They were looking at his color and the significance of having the first black president; or bi-racial, if you'd like to get technical about it. And now all those voters and non-voters alike are finding out that the color of someone's skin has no bearing on his ability.
Some of the best presidents we ever had did absolutely nothing. Bill Clinton was so wrapped up in his own infidelity, and America was all the better for it. There weren't wars and it was a slightly more peaceful time because he was too busy boning his interns. He may have done wrong by his wife, but he definitely did right by us because he didn't start bullshit or make empty promises.
American people have to realize that they cannot put all their hopes and dreams on the basis of politics. A single elected man cannot ultimately change life for Americans. While there are historians who argue otherwise, if you look back through history, it's repeating over and over again. Only we get deeper into crap because those supportive of a government system feel it necessary to rely on someone else to do their dirty work.
You are waiting on an American revolution that is never going to come. You can sit on your fat asses all day and curse Obama for not providing you with a better healthcare plan, but what are you really doing about it? Certainly not improving your health or taking steps to get healthier for yourself before you bitch about needing medical attention. Americans are the absolute laziest humans on the planet and it's because everything has been handed to them on a silver platter. If you had to plan for your own future, rather than letting a government official do it, you may find you're freer than you ever have been. Obama is not a savior. No political figure can be, and the sooner you united morons realize that, the better off you'll be.

Candy said: The last presidential election there was not much to choose from, it was either the way too old John McCain or the much too young Obama. Maybe H Clinton would have been a better choice though she is too experienced and I feel somewhat corrupt.
Kay said: I agree with you I was so caught up in the idea of having a non white president that I never really thought about his qualifications. I think he should have waited to run for president and got some more experience behind him, maybe 10 years or so than maybe he would have been the leader we all envisioned him to be.
Technokat replied to Kay : And just what qualifications do you expect a presidential candidate to have that Obama does not? Obama was just as qualified, or should I say "just as not qualified," as everyone else running. I think what matters most is what the president does with the job--not just what he or she has going into it.
The bottom line: Politicians get funding from private sources to run for public offices. No one gets anything for free--there is always a price to pay. If you are one of the unlucky 90% of the U.S. population who cannot "buy" your politicians, you are always going to have some issue with them since they are going to take care of their "people" first. Realize that they may claim to work for you, the average citizen, but they really work for the special interests who get them elected. How else could you explain the Tea Party's influence on the last big election? For the life of me, I could never see how any intelligent, community-minded human being would even follow such nonsensical thinking, but then I realized that intellect and a sense of community doesn't get people elected--money does.
