Thank God for 125 dead in Joplin

No religious group, claiming to be based around fundamental Christian ideals, is more detrimental or despicable than the Westboro Baptist Church. Centered in Topeka, Kansas, this religious group has been in the media actively for the last couple of years due to their outright, offensive stances on controversial issues like homosexuality and military funeral processions.

The group has gone too far this time. Another group of innocent people have become targets for their cruelty: the unfortunate residents of the town of Joplin, Missouri. After the town faced destruction and terror from a tornado, a member of the church posted, 'Thank God for 125 dead in Joplin' on the churches infamous hate website, GodHatesFags.com.

Although inexcusable, negative opinions on homosexuality and the military are acceptably expressed in the public forum. Natural disasters, however, and the hundreds of lives that claim are out of bounds for negative feedback such as this. A town is morning the loss of over 100 of its citizens, and a member of this church actually has the audacity to post positive feedback on the disaster on the internet. These people should be ashamed of their actions. True Christians would make it a point to help the people affected by the tragedy, not cause more grief and pain.

And that's just about it, as far as expressing that in the way they do, i give them credit for their bravery, and I also despise them for their negative and false image they project on Christianity. Just because we don't believe in gay marriage and that gays may go to hell, does not mean you have to listen, and that's about all that one has to say.

oh, Btw, the Bible does explain that gay people will go to hell. don't argue with it because it's pointless - it's of of if not the oldest book in history and you can't disprove it or prove it so just choose something, make up your own church who cares, dance around in your living room worshipping flying spaghetti monster, the worlds already done for with half of it on drugs anyways.

Westboro Baptist Church

The Westboro Baptist Church is of the Baptist faith and has very extreme beliefs when it comes to homosexuality. They are known to protest and picket funerals along with burning the American flag. The founder Fred Phelps is possible gay himself and has deep seeded issues because of his faith. It is also said that the Westboro Church is really just family members and not a 'church group' by most peoples definition.
