Disney has really gone downhill since I was a kid. The days of Snow White or Alice In Wonderland are over and they've been replaced by such nonsense as Hannah Montana and anything related to teenyboppers. Walt Disney would turn over in his grave if he knew what the moguls within his corporation were doing to the business; but now there's a whole new spin of annoyance that someone has unleashed. Older Disney characters on the internet with captions attached. How clever, right? Because I really wanted the Little Mermaid to be a smartass and have the sorts of opinions that people are putting onto her picture.

Where is the respect for the older versions of Disney that made the day of every kid in my generation? I thought it would be something I could pass down to my children, and so far it has been, until the captioned images of Ariel and others popped up online. Now it's "Why are they saying that?" "Did they really say that in the movie?" It's frustrating to try and teach children one way of looking at characters; a.k.a. in an innocent light and have that shattered by people who were bored.

This isn't the evolution of Disney. It's disrespecting to the youth and imagination of kids who love the older Disney characters, like Ariel and Aladdin. Those who want to remember them as they are and don't need to be subjected to the filth of what some of those captions say. I think those should be reserved for "Icanhascheezeburger" and other mindless websites where it doesn't take a genius to stick a few words on an image.
