Technokat replied to future : I know. Did you hear about the poll where people were asked which they would rather give up for a week: sex or their cell phones? The answer was: sex.
The younger generation should be called Generation Tech--and it's probably the biggest consumer generation that we have seen so far. Corporations LOVE people under 40. Heck, they love people under 20. No wonder we are in a recession--we keep buying stuff that's overpriced (not to mention that it becomes obsolete in a month), and we cannot afford to pay for it. Technology has become the new "drug" of choice, and it's as widely accepted as cigarettes were back in the day.
Drinker said: This is crazy, i love working at Starbucks!
User11809 replied to Drinker : same here
Technokat said: They ought to make a rule: You buy something for every hour you take up space. I absolutely hate having to sit in those places because of this very problem.
Or other customers could simply (accidentally) spill their coffee on the other peoples' laptops. That'll teach them. Ooh, but that's mean.
(Editorial comment: The correct phrase for the opening of your article is "Have you ever gone..." There is no such phrase in the English language as "Have you ever went...")
User11811 replied to Technokat : Wow, that us crazy, its becoming like the bathroom key at a gas station! That would be nuts, and come on, where else would all the aspirating wanna be movie producers / writers sit ;)
Technokats replied to Technokat : Yes, aspiring and wearing too-tight v-neck t-shirts.
Yeah, I know it would stink to ask people to pay for seats, but something has to be done. I mean, how can it be good for business if people are taking up table space and not buying anything? It discourages the customers who want to pay for something and enjoy it. Maybe they could put up a sign that says, "Seats available for paying customers only. One hour limit per transaction."
I was at a "trendy" coffee shop in New York a few years back waiting for a friend to show up. I bought a beverage and looked for ONE chair--there was nothing available. The entire place was mobbed by people with laptops frantically typing or worse, with headphones on just listening. There were even people sitting at tables with other people they seemingly knew, and they all had laptops. I'm thinking--why would you hang out with your friends and ignore them while you type on your computer? This was just when the iPhone first came out so most people didn't have them.
Issues replied to Technokat : Thanks Technokat for the editorial comment and all the wonderful comments you contribute you to issues! We LOVE you :)
Technokat replied to Technokat : Aw, I'm kinda sweet on Issues, too. Why else do I come here? (Well besides the fact that I'm overly opinionated and don't have a life... :-P)
