Reality television is the media's pathetic excuse for entertainment because it's cheap and the people of this generation are easily amused. They could broadcast a full 30 minutes of a monkey flinging his poo at a flock of cameramen, and it would become an overnight sensation because the people who watch reality television are generally ignorant. They don't know that what they're watching isn't really reality. 85% of the population in America is of the working class. That means 9-5 jobs, no fame, and little recognition THIS is reality, save for something along the lines of the popular television show Wife Swap which picks two of the dumbest families to create conflict. With wars, constant crisis, and economical problems how is the perpetuation of fighting for the sake of fame on reality television helping our society any? I'll give you a clue! It's not!
MTV is the worst network for reality television. The manufactured episodes of Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, True Life, or 16 and Pregnant are enough to make anyone with a shred of dignity cringe. Is it the fact that what you're watching is so far from your current pathetic reality that you must substitute someone else's for your own? There are has-beens and might-have-beens that portray themselves as stupid for the sake of entertainment. Why? It might be because that teenager on MTV is pregnant and probably won't be a shining motherly example, but at least it's not you or your kids right? People who watch reality television are typically the lazy, socially unaccepted who prefer having their reality spoofed for them by corporations and entertainment media; rather than live their own lives.
In today's world, instead of people creating genuine art out of their feelings for American situations, they're creating bullshit on television; and you'll lap it up. You'll get your fake tan to look like Snooki, your hair weave to resemble Nicki Manaj, and sing your heart out to impress the television screen when American Idol is on; and for what? Absolutely nothing. It used to be that people were on television because they had talent. Now you don't have to show any amount of intelligence to star in something to rot the brains of the current generations. It's amazing how many of your dumb dorks will exploit yourselves for a few bucks. It's like the fake tramps who claw at eachother for a piece of a has-been celebrity they've never met. It's ridiculous and I'm surprised at how many people, especially deluded young adults, can't see reality television for what it is; cheap entertainment to make you feel better about your own dull life.
Do you want to see real life? Videotape your everyday routine and watch it whenever you need a jolt of reality television; because I guarantee you, the reality you see on crappy networks like MTV, isn't reality. There will be the offended jackasses who say, Well don't watch it! Guess what? I don't! So that petty attempt at comment grandeur will be immediately dismissed. If you've got something to say, make it worth saying. Otherwise, stick your head back in your ass and wait for the next reality show casting call for disillusioned morons in your area.
