JetBlue Flight Attendant Lied

So I was flying JetBlue this past winter with my 24 month old daughter and I bought my daughter her own seat which by the way is not any cheaper than an adult ticket. I got on the flight with my daughter put her in her seat and buckled her in. The flight was completely full as they typically are these days. They got everyone in the plane and closed the door and began taxing towards the runway. Next thing I know the flight attendant comes to me tells me that because my daughter is so young she must be on my lap during takeoff and landing. So not knowing any better I place my daughter on my lap, next thing I know another flight attendant comes and sits in my daughter seat and fastens the seat belt. I was a bit angry because I am still not sure if she was lying just so the flight attendant would have a seat for take off and landing?
